This beautiful nine arch bridge is located adjacent to the town of Ella, in the Badulla District, uva province, Sri Lanka. This nine arched bridge is built between the Ella railway station and the Demodara railway station. This bridge was built during the British rule. The bridge is built in a beautiful environment. Only stones ,bricks and cement were used to build the bridge. The bridge of these nine arches occupies a special place for photography. The bridge, which has become a major tourist attraction, will mark its 100th anniversary in 2021

Sri Lanka is an island of great beauty. One of those beautiful places is the nine Arches Bridge. This bridge is located close to the Ella and Demodara in the uva province of Sri Lanka. This nine arched bridge can be seen on the railway line between Ella railway station and Demodara railway station .There are different names for this bridge. Stone bridge, Demodara bridge ,Ella bridge, Sky bridge are some of those names. This bridge is known as nine arch bridge  because it is built on nine arches. This bridge is 300 feet(91.45m)long, 25 feet(7.62m) wide and 80 feet(24.32m)high. The bridge was built during the British colonial period. The bridge was built by Sri Lankan architect Appuhami and British engineers. The architectural features of the bridge and the absence o metal in the construction add to the beauty of the nine arches bridge. construction of the bridge was completed in 1921 and will mark its 100th anniversary in 2021.tourists come here to take photos near the nine arch bridge. The bridge is located at a distance of 3km from Ella town. If you come by three-wheeler, you will be able to reach the bridge soon. However foreign tourists prefer to visit this bridge on foot. This is because the environment around the road leading to the nine arches bridge is very beautiful. It takes about 20 minutes on foot to reach the bridge .Foreign tourists are of the opinion that coming to the bridge on foot is a different experience for them. However, a large number of local and foreign tourists come to see and photograph the nine-arched bridge which is located in a beautiful setting.
